xREZ Director Ruth West is a visiting scholar at the Creative Exchange Institute at the University of Tasmania this summer. West will speak at the Creative Exchange Institute (CxI) Friday July 24 to introduce CxI to xREZ Art + Science Lab students, their work, lab projects, and to participate in a conversation about successful art + science collaborations. Her talk will address the question: What can we accomplish by bridging art and science that we can’t do otherwise?
West will work with artists and researchers in Tasmania to discuss and develop a collaborative vision: a future in which art + science integration opens new portals of imagination, invention, knowledge, and communication across cultures to create breakthrough solutions for pressing global problems.
Created in 2014, the CxI intends to foster interdisciplinary research, practice and teaching based on the creative exchange between the disciplines of architecture, design, visual arts, theatre and music. Led by Director Stephen Loo of the University of Tasmania School of Architecture and Design, the Institute is working this year to establish its bearings and make its new building into a creative home for students, artists, and researchers.
