xREZ Art + Science Lab is officially a designated host for the Leonardo/ISAST LASER series!
Beginning in Sept. 2016, the UNT LASER will be hosted by xREZ Art + Science Lab and held twice each year in the spring and fall semesters. The events will include an informal mix and mingle rendezvous hour followed by presentations and room-wide discussion among panelists and guests.
Launched informally in Mar. 2016 with the UNT Art + Science Rendezvous, the spring event held at the UNT Union was moderated by JD Talasek, director of Cultural Programs of the National Academy of Sciences, with presentations by Dallas-Ft. Worth practitioners including computational artist Ira Greenberg, Make Art with Purpose founder Janeil Engelstad, UNT physics professor and data-musician Marco Buongiorno Nardelli, and xREZ Art + Science Lab Director, artist-scientist Ruth West.
The forthcoming LASER series will feature art-science practitioners from North Texas as well as national and international guests working at the intersection of the arts and sciences.
LASER (Leonardo Art Science Evening Rendezvous) is Leonardo/ISAST‘s international program of evening gatherings that bring artists and scientists together for informal presentations and conversation with an audience.
Leonardo/The International Society for the Arts, Sciences and Technology (Leonardo/ISAST) “fosters collaborative explorations both nationally and internationally by facilitating interdisciplinary projects and documenting and disseminating information about interdisciplinary practice.”
