This Interdisciplinary Research Studio allows students to explore individualized topics for interdisciplinary research within a cross-disciplinary and collaborative context. They gain a foundation in innovative practices that bring together arts and sciences irrespective of medium or modality, conducting an exploration in relation to their foci of study. Projects can involve research to create new knowledge, a new creative project, involve a combination of disciplinary methods and may be individual or group projects.

  1. Learning Space: Environmental Education through Our Built Environment

    This project is an attempt to explore the ways we teach environmental education and create behavior changes. I developed this project to address a problem that I have found while working in educational outreach; generally speaking, individuals in our community do not have an awareness of the natural resources that they use every day. I believe a possible solution to this problem lies in the buildings that we work and live in....
  2. Looking for a Unified Theory of Information

    This project compares journalistic framing with other kinds of information transmission systems and makes the analogy that information communication between two minds is similar to information communication infrastructure. Like metaphor, journalistic framing is a way of communicating such that both sender and receiver see the message clearly.
